GROOVE TOOLBOX
TEN ESSENTIAL RHYTHMS FOR EVERY PERCUSSIONIST
12 VIDEOS
Now that we’ve got an idea of some essential concepts and techniques used for playing congas, it’s time we work on building our rhythmic vocabulary in one of the most important ways possible— by learning rhythms!
In this course, we’ll cover ten different rhythms, from six different countries, that will help prepare us for a wide variety of musical situations. We’ll learn some traditional patterns, but we’ll also learn how to start to adapt these patterns in a non-traditional context. We’ll start off with some hand to hand grooves, and work our way through some more challenging patterns, all while focusing on the “feel” of each individual groove.
In This Course We'll Learn:
Rhythms from Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Brazil, and the U.S.
Brief background information on each groove
Independence exercises based on some of the patterns
Insights on how to develop a great “feel”
Some great musical references to check out
Let’s get to work!!!
