TIMBAL GROOVE TOOLBOX
TWELVE ESSENTIAL RHYTHMS FOR EVERY TIMBALERO
14 VIDEOS
Now that we’ve got some essential concepts and techniques under our belts to get started playing timbales, it’s time to work on developing our rhythmic vocabulary in one of the most important ways possible— by learning grooves!
In this course, we’ll cover twelve different rhythms, that will help prepare us for a wide variety of musical situations. We’ll learn some traditional folkloric patterns, but we’ll also learn how to start to adapt these patterns in a non-traditional context. We’ll start off by learning some foundational grooves on the instrument, and work our way through some more challenging patterns that will help us develop independence as we go, all while focusing on the importance of the “feel” of each rhythm.
In This Course We'll Learn:
Essential timbal rhythms from Cuba and Puerto Rico
Brief background information on each groove
Independence exercises based on their rhythmic cells
Insights on how to develop a great “feel”
Ideas for adapting the rhythms in a non-traditional context
Some great musical references to check out
Let’s hit it!!!
